Jo Even Tomren appointed new Managing Director at NTC-Manila

Jo Even Tomren (46) has been appointed new Managing Director at the Norwegian Training Center - Manila (NTC-M). Mr. Tomren is a Master Mariner and has extensive experience from Norwegian and international shipping and shipping operations. In addition, he has a master’s degree in "Management of demanding maritime operations" from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Tomren has extensive sailing experience from the offshore industry around the world, where he has serviced most segments, and the latest as a Platform Manager on drilling rigs. He had many different tasks within shipping operations, as well as construction supervision in Norway and abroad.

In the period from 2015 – to February 2017, he was the "Sales and Development Director" for NTNU Ocean Training, focusing on the development and commercialization of NTNU's specialist expertise in the maritime industry.

Tomren has been employed at NTC-M as the Deputy Manager Director since February 2017 and will take on the role of new CEO from October 1st.

He has served as the "VP External Affairs" in the "Philippines Norwegian Business Council" (PNBC), as well as several local positions and appointments.

The Norwegian Training Center - Manila (NTC-M) was established by the Norwegian Shipowners' Association (NSA) in 1990, to provide relevant and qualified competence training for Filipino seafarers serving on the ships of its members. Today, NTC-M is one of the world's leading simulator and competence centers for maritime training of seafarers, from all over the world.

Former CEO at NTC-Manila, Erlend Grimstad has recently been appointed deputy minister at the Norwegian ministry of finance.
