The UK is one of Norway's largest trading partners and one of the most important markets for Norwegian shipping, especially in offshore- and shortsea segment. If the declaration gets a majority in both the EU and the UK, it means they continue as today until the end of 2020, while negotiating a future agreement. Norway will be safeguarded through the EEA-agreement during that period.
Shipping and the Brexit negotiations
On Thursday, November 15, Prime Minister Theresa May presented a draft of the Brexit agreement. The Norwegian Shipowners 'Association is following the Brexit negotiations carefully and is in dialogue with Norwegian authorities and the European Community of Shipowners' Associations (ECSA) for further follow-up.
