Turkey ratifies the Hong Kong Convention

Turkey has ratified the Hong Kong Convention. Now, 8 countries with more than 20 percent of the world's tonnage have ratified the convention.

The Hong Kong Convention, adopted in 1999, is a milestone in the efforts to improve shipyard ship recycling conditions. The HK-Convention sets requirements both for the ship and for the yard, flag state and land authorities.
Until the Convention enters into force, the Norwegian Shipowners' Association has advised its members to comply with the provisions of the Convention.
