On the 28th of June the maritime industry released one new and two updated documents, and one website to address the challenges connected to piracy.

Global Counter Piracy Guidance for Companies, Masters and Seafarers is a new publication containing guidance on piracy and armed robbery worldwide. This document is aiming to be the overarching, more general guidelines to handle the global threat of piracy.                    

BMP5, Best Management Practices to Deter Piracy and Enhance Maritime Safety in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea contains guidance on region-specific threats. This is the update from BMP4 and has also incorporated some of the other threats in the region, in addition to piracy. 

The third edition of the Guidelines for Owners, Operators and Masters for protection against piracy and armed robbery in the Gulf of Guinea region is provided.
